Like her daddy

I have to admit that before we had kids, I hoped that any girls we had would look like their daddy. It wasn't long before Marianna came along and that wish began to become a reality in her tiny features. She definitely has characteristics from us both, but in my mind, she is her daddy all over.

But what has really blown my mind is the number of people (many of whom didn't know we adopted) have commented on how much Adrienne looks like Nathan. I smile and have to agree. We never expected that, but what a neat thing to be the case!

It wasn't until this morning that I saw the beautiful picture that the resemblance represents. Just as Adrienne looks like her adopted daddy, so God wants us to look like Jesus. The longer we are His children, the more we should become mirrors of Him! I've known for a long time that my spiritual adoption should have the lovely end-result of looking like my father, but how beautiful to see that represented through Adrienne.

Beautiful!

My adopted daughter strongly resembles her daddy too! It's such a God thing, and such a blessing to us!

That's so neat! I know someone who, at the finalization of the adoption, had the judge say the same thing: the baby looked like the adoptive parents had given her life.

Isn't that cool?

She's beautiful!

Angie,

Funny you did a post about this today because just yesterday I was looking at the picture of Adrienne (on the right side of the blog) and thought she looked just like Nathan. I know it doesn't really matter what our children look like whether adopted or not, but how special that she is adopted and yet looks just like Nathan. You have such a beautiful family.

I miss you,
Yvette

What a beautiful post and what a beautiful family. My mother had me out of wedlock and married my "dad" when I was 2 years old and he adopted me. It is so funny now when people tell him my girls look like him he just smiles and says thanks.

Angie,

Isn't it amazing how God pulls that one off??

We say the same thing about two of our five adopted children.

Our youngest son is a spitting image of my husbands baby pictures. His biological sister just came home this past Friday and she is the spitting image of me when I was her age and our bio daughter when she was 9 months old.

ONLY GOD!

Hugs and blessings - it is wonderful to see and hear the smiles in your home!
Love,
Jill

You write so well and inspire all of us with your writing. The girls do look like thier daddy, however the thing that has struck me the most is that Adrienne is so happy, the joy written on her face has blessed my heart.

Angie - That is amazing. The girls are beautiful. What a blessing it was to read about your time in Atlanta at Deeper Still. I've gone to each of the other sites and read their accounts too and just had tear filled eyes each time. What an experience. And to have Beth Moore pray for each one of you is the icing on the cake. How incredible!!!

I've been praying for each one of you that when you come home you won't experience the lies of the enemy and his attacks by become overwhelmingly sad that the moment is gone and lose the momentum God placed in your heart.

Congrats on finishing your book. I love that you got to add Adrienne in there. How perfect is God's timing? I love it! I can't wait to buy a copy. I’ll see you at the book signing!

Blessings to you all! I hope your sweet Grandmother is doing well. I love that I can still see your amazing Grandfather on TV. I watched him just the other night and felt so encouraged by his message. Oh, how I miss those days.

Take care!

Dear Angie,

I am new to your blog, I saw the link on another blog I was reading and nearly fell over. I too called my grandfather "poppy" I lived next door to my grandparents, I was the first grand child and to say he spoiled me would be an understatement, he was killed Easter Monday April 12, 1982, I was 13 years old, I miss him to this day especially when I look out my window, now on the other side of their house and see his house. I am sad that he never knew my children, then I have to remind myself that he knew them before I did, and when I look at my youngest child, who is now 17, I am sure he took great humor in any plans he may have had part in with God picking her for me. Now on to the next reason I nearly passed out. My mother's name was Joy, it is also my middle name and my oldest daughter's middle name. She died very unexpectedly on August 12, 2006 from a bacterial infection in her lungs. She was 57. And so I click on your blog and low and behold you and your husband live in TN, where my brother lives, and if that wasn't enough, you've just adopted, he adopted his daughter, Emma Joy, on March 8th of this year. I find it odd how God works, thank you for sharing your experiences, your blog is inspiring and I plan to continue to read. I wish you and your family happiness in your "new normal"

Dear Angie,
I love it. She is so precious and she does look like Nathan. I want people to see Jesus when they look at me and it's such a neat way you connected that.
I loved your last post too, I was just now able to read it after being gone. Of course we do not want to be a member of the brown shirt club, but I am honored to be walking it with you and our other dear sweet friends. There isn't a day that goes by that I am not thankful for all of you, for Poppy and for Mary Grace!
Thank you for continuing to be there and to share yourself and your sweet girls with us.
I love you friend,
Kim

What an adorable smile Adrienne has in this photo! I love the stage where something as simple as eye contact can make your child light up with glee. That's what the adult world is missing.
